Roommate Fun in the Rain

So it rained today. So my roommates, Britton and Casey, and I decided that we would go talk a walk and take pictures along the way.

Some dude from Uganda took this for us...it was rather awkward.

Yep, I'm weird.

College Life!

I moved to Flagstaff the second week in August so that I can go to NAU (Northern Arizona University). I am an English-Secondary Education Major, meaning that I want to teach high school english. School starts on the 30th! I'm pretty excited. But I thought I would show you all what my apartment life looks like!

New Hair

I finally got up the courage to do something new to my hair. I decided to layer it and do highlights. And I actually love how it turned out!

Until We Meet Again...in 2 years

July 22, 2010. The day I said goodbye to my homie, Ian Campbell. Yet another depressing day for me...
Ian left on his mission to Mexico City. I was pretty sad. A lot of people describe a mission as "the best two years"...but I think a more appropriate statement would be "the LONGEST two years!" Its only been 5 weeks and I already think I might die. I'm having withdrawals!! I am without my best friend and my confidante.
But here are some of our last moments together. Including his farewell, and us saying goodbye at the airport.

My cousin Skylee, Ian, and me on sunday the 18th. The day of Ian's farewell talk.

Skylee and I :)

Everyone together. Ian, my mom, my dad, me, Skylee, my aunt Sherry, and my uncle Keith.

Ian giving his farewell talk. Yes, I know...you're probably not supposed to take pictures during church, but I did. I'm just a rebel like that :)

 I miss him :(

Ian all dressed up and ready to go, complete with his "murse" (man purse)

At the airport saying goodbye. My last hug for two years...

Mom, Grandma Smith, Me (yes, I look like crap..), Ian, and Dad at the airport.

I Love You Ian!!
CAN'T WAIT UNTIL JULY 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An Unfortunate Tale..

So one day I found this Quail nest...with six little speckled eggs in it.
but then only two of them hatched. But the mother Quail decided that she had better things to do than raise a couple of loud, hungry children, so she split.
...and then one little bird wandered off and got lost. and the other one proceeded to attempt suicide by bailing out of the nest. So I figured there were two possible endings to this story... 1. it starves to death on account of the unreliable mother    2. It jumps out, falls to its death, and is consumed by ants.

The depressed little bird with nothing to live for slowly made its way to the edge. I watched as it sat contemplating.

...and then, before I knew it, it had made up its mind, deciding that it wasn't much for starving to death. So it jumped. So, as it plunged to its death, I snatched that baby bird right out of the air with my cat like reflexes just as it was about to hit the pavement.
...but then I didn't have any way to keep it and raise it or make sure that it lived a long and happy life. So it died....
A rather depressing day for me. :(

My Best Friend

My brother, Ian, who also happens to double as my best friend, is THE coolest person I know. He is the bees knees! And he makes Chuck Norris look even more lame than Robert Pattinson..and he's PRETTY LAME!!! But anyway, I was so excited when I found out he was coming home for 3 whole weeks before his mission! Ian had just finished his 2nd year at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, so it was almost unbelievable that he would be home for that long since his usual breaks were about a week long. But he got to come home on June 19th, which also happens to be his birthday, so I made him a GIANT cookie with all 20 candles on it.
And then, I got to bring him up to Flagstaff to see where I would be spending the next four years. We ended up meeting my dad's brother and his family there because they drove down from Utah to attend Ian's farewell and because my cousin is thinking about coming to NAU next year.  So, I showed them all around campus and my apartment. This is a picture of us in front of the library on campus, which is where I work.

Then we went to the meteor crater that is near Flagstaff. That was interesting....
                                                                          me and Ian

I finally made it!!

After 12 long years, I finally graduated! I didn't feel like I was old enough. It was definitely a weird feeling, knowing that I would never go back to high school. But ready or not, it came.
I graduated from Marana High School in Tucson on May 19, 2010 at 8:00 pm.
I felt super special because both of my grandmas and my aunt, Rachael, all flew from Utah to see me! We had so much fun. We went up to a resort in Phoenix that had a water park and spent two days. Then my parents and my grandmas took me college shopping at Ikea to get the necessities of life. I was sad to see them leave, but I had such a fun time.
Graduation was kind of a shocker. After I walked across the stage and sat down, diploma in hand, it was as if someone slapped me in the face and screamed "Life's about to start! Time to grow up!" in my face. I knew I would have to start doing things for myself...like laundry, and bills. And I was even more scared that in only 2 months I would move out of the house, to a city I didn't know and where I was all alone and knew no one. But i figured it would all be okay once I actually got started.

And here is where the adventures begin....
